Built in 1710 as a manor house for the Johnstone family, Gretna Hall Hotel is now an ideal setting for your leisure break thanks to its great location, charm and character.
Located just one mile over the Scottish Border, Gretna Hall is the perfect base from which to explore the Scottish Borders as well as the English Lake District, where you’ll find many walks, hikes and other attractions.
For 250 years Gretna Green has been associated with clandestine marriages, and is now one of the world’s most popular wedding locations. From 1792 Gretna Hall was a coaching inn and was the first stop coaches made as they crossed the border.
Much grander than the local ale houses of the time, Gretna Hall attracted a higher class of wedding clients, so many noblemen and aristocrats were married here.
